Our Chicago Chiropractors

At The Balancing Center, our chiropractors believe that the human body wants to heal itself. A chiropractor is a doctor that uses hand-on spinal manipulations and other alternative treatments instead of surgery or medications to treat a myriad of symptoms. Through extremely gentle techniques, our chiropractors are simply realigning their patient's body so that the body can heal itself. Chiropractors use non-invasive techniques like spinal manipulations, soft-tissue release, and ergonomic training (walking, sitting, and standing). Although most people that see a chiropractor do so because of low back pain, chiropractor adjustments can also treat many other issues such as migraines, neck pain, shoulder pain, sports injuries, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, herniated discs, sciatica, and cervicogenic dizziness. Many people use chiropractor treatment for mental health challenges like anxiety and depression. Because an adjustment from a chiropractor is so gentle and non-invasive, it's a highly safe practice.

The Nervous System

Perhaps the most important thing that a chiropractor does is care for the spine. The spine is where the nervous system lives. The nervous system is charged with receiving information and generating a response to a given stimulus. For example, when your hand touches a hot stove, the nervous system is responsible for identifying the heat and telling your hand to stop touching it. The nervous system is essential. Diseases linked with the nervous system include Alzheimer's disease, Bell's Palsy, Cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease. A healthy nervous system is integral to a person's overall health. The nervous system is primarily housed in the spine. During an examination, a chiropractor is looking for something called a subluxation.

Simply put, a subluxation means that one or more of the bones in your spine, also called vertebrae, is out of place. Because the nervous system is housed in the spine, these subluxations can interrupt the messaging between your brain and body. Imagine what might happen if your body had difficulty sending and receiving messages about the hot surface your hand is touching. Your body's ability to send and receive notifications is a primary function, just like breathing or producing new cells. Our chiropractors at The Balancing Center are genuinely invested in the health of your spine. Our chiropractors understand just how important your spine is. Their safe, non-invasive techniques are designed to keep your spine as healthy as possible. Regular adjustments from our chiropractors can keep your vertebrae in their proper place, allowing the easy transmission of those extremely important and sometimes life-changing messages. When considering what makes a person healthy, consider the health of your nervous system. A flexible spine makes a flexible mind.
